Hurricane Irene Makes Landfall in North Carolina

Hurricane Irene made landfall this morning near Cape Lookout, North Carolina. Disaster response teams are on the ground from Florida to Maine, serving first responders, assisting the evacuation of low lying areas, feeding at shelters and providing a broad range of support. The Salvation Army has 370 canteens and five mobile feeding kitchens throughout the areas that are anticipating the disaster.

The Salvation Army has strategically staged locations for personnel and vehicles in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Mobile feeding units as well as spiritual and emotional care will be provided to emergency responders and those affected by the storm.
