Walmart Donates $1 Million to Red Kettles
The Salvation Army received a generous $1 million donation from the Walmart Foundation in support of our 120th annual Red Kettle Campaign. The company has been a valued partner in helping The Salvation Army’s efforts to combat hunger – a problem that the company is passionate about ending.
The current economic recession has left many families struggling financially and The Salvation Army has witnessed a significant increase in requests for assistance. Walmart’s donation will allow The Salvation Army to continue meeting this rising need and will assist in maintaining well-stocked food pantries at Salvation Army locations across the country.
In addition to this generous donation, Walmart is also the largest supporter of our Red Kettle Campaign raising more than $42 million in donations for the organization last year by allowing our kettles at their store locations.
Until December 24, Walmart and subsidiary Sam’s Club stores will continue the tradition of hosting Salvation Army bell ringers outside of their doors, helping us to raise the necessary funds for serving approximately 30 million Americans or more in the coming year.
The Salvation Army would like to say THANK YOU to The Walmart Foundation for their generosity and support of The Salvation Army’s work. The company’s dedication to “helping people live better around the globe” is what makes the service of The Salvation Army possible.
