San Francisco Rocks the Square
San Francisco’s Union Square was jam packed December 9 with music lovers, Salvation Army supporters and bell ringers as local bands and musicians performed at the Golden State Division’s annual Celebrity Bell Ringing event.
Originally started in support of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, the event encourages bell ringers with talent to sing, dance, and entertain the crowd! In its 31st year, the theme, ‘A British Invasion’ featured Beatles and Rolling Stones cover bands.
For three hours, visitors to Union Square were entertained with plethora of musical styles including rock, show tunes, and choral music. And if they liked what they heard, they could donate to one of The Salvation Army red kettles standing nearby.
The Unauthorized Rolling Stones performed center-stage during the heart of the event and even “donated” Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” to The Salvation Army!:
