Do you enjoy running for approximately 35 minutes?

Do you like to support a good cause while you’re at it?

Here’s your chance! If you live in the Washington, DC area (or willing to travel), you can break a sweat on April 28th at The Salvation Army’s Kettle Classic 5K run/walk.

Presented to you by The Salvation Army Advisory Council of Washington, DC, the inaugural race will benefit the Turning Point Center - located in the heart of the city – a transitional living center for homeless women with children. You might have a little more spring in your step knowing your participation helps fund assistance for young families who need your financial support!

shocking 41% of the homeless population in DC is comprised of single women with children, but Turning Point is working to break the family cycle of homelessness and poverty by assisting young mothers with housing while they gain career and life skills needed to gain self-sufficiency.

“For each step a runner or walker will take in the Kettle Classic, a young mother will be given the opportunity to take an equal step toward creating a better life for herself and her children. We can all make a difference in their lives”, said Major Steve Morris, National Capital Area Commander.

So, run alongside The Salvation Army! For a registration fee of only $30 and $15 for children under 12, you can directly support a young mother in need and hey, even enjoy DC’s famous cherry blossoms along the way!
