Donuts and Doughnations!
Which classic white box do you grab when you’re grocery shopping: crumb cakes, cookies, muffins, or doughnuts?
The delicious sweets of famous bakery Entenmann’s are staples for breakfast time, snack time and especially National Doughnut Day time! That’s why for the second year in a row, Entenmann’s is helping The Salvation Army celebrate the historical day, held this year on June 1st.
In support of our 75th Doughnut Day, the company will donate $1 to The Salvation Army for every person who “likes” their Facebook page from now until June 23. That’s up to a $25,000 donation that will help someone in need of food, shelter or rehabilitation! A little bit of money goes a long way for someone with nothing.
You also have the chance to win free doughnuts for a year (talk about being the office “favorite”!) by entering your name on Entenmann’s Facebook page.
Visit www.facebook.com/Entenmanns to “Like” their page and take a swing at the sweepstakes!
So, why do we get such kicks off of doughnuts? Because the Salvation Army’s “doughnut lassies” served these sweet treats to soldiers during World War I!
In 1938, we established the national holiday to help raise funds during the Great Depression and to commemorate the service of both American soldiers and the doughnut lassies.
Salvation Army locations across the country will be celebrating National Doughnut Day, June 1st and you can be certain that sweet treats will abound! Only 39 days left! We look forward to sharing with you about events planned in your area in the coming weeks.
How do you spell it: donut or doughnut?
