The MOST Amazing Race(s)!

Ever seen the CBS show “Amazing Race”?

The fun reality game show features teams of two people racing around the world making pitstops for prizes in attempt to win the scavenger hunt’s grand prize of $1,000,000. The show is reminiscent of the manic quest for money in the classic movie It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

A few years ago, various locations of The Salvation Army began their own version of the show called “The MOST Amazing Race”– minus the world traveling and the huge cash prize – but most certainly a ton more fun!

There’s definitely an incentive to win. To participate, teams are required to raise at least $250, every penny of which goes to The Salvation Army’s social services operating in the race’s hometown. If that do-gooder feeling doesn’t get your feet moving, the $5,000 grand prize will put a spring in your step!

You’ll need all the energy you can get to eat pizza on a whim or jump from a high dive!

One challenge required teams to answer 5 questions about restaurants, then call in an order for 2 pizzas, race to the restaurant, and eat their order!

The Salvation Army’s “Most Amazing Race” has been a hit in major cities since it began. And we’re psyched for the races coming up this year! For more information or to register or donate, click on the city name below.

  1. Hi Megan,
I’m The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command Director of Development. I’ve been waiting for the kit on how to put together this event to come out. Would you please send it to me or put me in contact with the correct person?

    Thank you,
    Jeanean

  2. Hi Jeanean, I’m checking on this for you now and I’ll be back in touch soon.

  3. Megan,

I work in the area of non-profit innovation, and I have to say, what an awesome and creative idea to get people to support your cause! Non-profits tend to ask people to just “write a check” but when we can incite and excite our communities with tangible payoffs like fun events or rewards, then it is possible to get a message across, donations flowing in, and a really great day out of it all! A perfect way to make giving fun!

    Best,
