During times of disaster, The Salvation Army provides relief in the form of warm meals, snacks and beverages to families and individuals who have lost everything. Relief can also mean basic materials such as clothes, blankets, and toiletries. Relief can be as simple as providing a presence, a hug, or a prayer.

May 3rd is National Day of Prayer

In 1952, President Truman signed a bill proclaiming the first Thursday in May to be the National Day of Prayer, a day of public thanksgiving and prayer for the nation.

As such, this Thursday, May 3 marks the 61st annual observance of the day on which all people are invited to pray. The 2012 theme is “One Nation Under God” based on Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is Lord.”
