Making a Difference for Thousands of Back-to-Schoolers!
As much as it always hurt to say goodbye to summer, the beginning of the new school year was always a little exciting. New clothes, new crayons, new friendships! But for some kids, returning to school can be a reminder of what they don’t have.
So once again and with your help, The Salvation Army will be providing disadvantaged kids with the right tools and confidence for success in the classroom through our back-to-school initiatives. And what better time of year to kick off these programs than Make a Difference to Children Month?
From now until September, The Salvation Army will host a variety of ways for you to make a difference in the life of a child in need. To find out how you can donate new duds, backpacks or school supplies (think anything one would need to make a killer diorama), or to request assistance for your children, call your local Salvation Army! They’ll be able to fill you in on drop off events, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities.
Joining us in our efforts, nearly 500 Target stores will once again participate in the Target School Spree event between July 16 and September 15 in various parts of the country. Through the company’s generosity, nearly 12,000 students in need will get the chance to pick out school supplies, clothing and other school necessities to purchase with an $80 gift card.
We are so thankful for Target’s wonderful partnership with The Salvation Army.
