Fresh Start Furniture for a Family in Need

Gloria moved into her new home back in June, an exciting transition considering she and her two daughters were living with a friend in the months before.

Losing her home was the final blow that led Gloria to seek help from the Holy Family Institute in Pittsburgh, a charity that provides support to children and families suffering with poverty and substance abuse.

Upon finding a new home, Holy Family referred Gloria to The Salvation Army in Pittsburgh to receive help with furnishing her empty space.

“I used to live across the street from The Salvation Army for many years, but I didn’t know anything about them,” she said.

It just so happens the timing was perfect. The Salvation Army’s partner in giving, American Signature Inc. (ASI) – parent company to Value City Furniture (VCF) and American Signature Furniture (ASF) – had just announced their Million Dollar Furniture campaign, which provides home furnishings to individuals in need, and were eager to give Gloria a fresh start with new home furnishings totally almost $1,500.

Her once bare living room is complete with couches, pillows, tables, lamps and an entertainment stand.

“How grateful I am, how lucky…it’s unbelievable! I just couldn’t be happier. It’s a wonderful thing that this company is doing.”

She is just one of many beneficiaries on the receiving end of ASI’s summer of giving – find them on Facebook to learn more.
