2012 Online Annual Report Now Available
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jer. 29:11).
This verse from the book of Jeremiah is the foundation for The Salvation Army’s 2012 Online Annual Report’s theme, “Hope and Future”, now available at http://annualreport.salvationarmyusa.org/.
The ongoing economic recession made 2011 a difficult year for many Americans, which meant a record number of individuals called upon the help and services of The Salvation Army. But despite the continued downturn, by God’s grace and the blessings of our incredible supporters, more than 30 million people were helped by The Salvation Army last year alone.
Through every meal served, coat provided, heart rehabilitated, and Christmas gift supplied, The Salvation Army strives to express the love of Christ, share the hope of God’s promises, and empower individuals in need to secure a better future.
Throughout this last year and with the help of 3.3 million volunteers, The Salvation Army:
- Provided 10 million nights of lodging to the homeless
- Served 60 million meals to the hungry
- Sent 184,000 low income and disadvantaged kids to summer camp
- Counseled 180,000 men and women with drug and alcohol rehabilitation
- Provided disaster assistance to 600,000 individuals
The report also features a touching video of community collaboration, strength and recovery in Joplin, MO following the May, 2011 tornadoes. Over a year later, The Salvation Army continues to serve the area with long-term recovery projects.
Though we strive to ignite hope in each person we serve, we can’t help but feel this same inspiration when we witness the amazing expressions of love, faith and generosity from our supporters that allow us to serve those in the most need.
Thank you for your heartfelt support which has made our service possible!
