Strap on your dancing boots!

We are thrilled to announce that country music superstar, Kenny Chesney will kick-off The Salvation Army’s 122nd annual Red Kettle Campaign with a live performance during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game!

The popular singer-songwriter and football enthusiast will perform hits off of his latest album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, in support of The Salvation Army’s long-running fundraising campaign.

In its 16th year, the Red Kettle Kick-Off show will launch yet another great season of giving and serving. Last Christmas, the American public generously donated a record $147.6 million to The Salvation Army’s iconic red kettles, allowing The Salvation Army to serve millions of Americans in need with food, clothing, toys, shelter, and other assistance (3.5 million individuals during the holidays alone!).

“There are great traditions in America – especially Thanksgiving, family and football. For 16 years the Dallas Cowboys and The Salvation Army have been an American tradition and I’m happy to be a part of it,” said Kenny Chesney.

Football players from The Salvation Army's Cedar Crest Community Center in Dallas joined Kenny Chesney on stage at the press announcement of his partnership on October 28.

And now through November 11, fans of the Cowboys and Kenny Chesney can visit for a chance to win a trip for four to Dallas to see the team battle the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving Day – including on-field passes for the halftime show and meet-and-greet with Kenny!

“I’m calling on all of my fans to not only give back this year but also send in their best football highlights videos for a chance to see me live in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day,” said Kenny Chesney.

Complete contest rules and details can be found here.

Throughout The Salvation Army’s partnership with the Dallas Cowboys, the Red Kettle Campaign has raised more than $1.5 billion for Americans in need – that’s one person helped every second!

We hope you’ll tune in at 3:15 PM (CT) on November 22 for the Thanksgiving Day game and Red Kettle Kick-Off, airing live on FOX!

  6. Shelly, they are a christian organization but they never preach at you, they only help. Everyone who has ever lived through a natural disaster know the first to show up and the last to leave is the Salvation Army (as opposed to the
    Red Cross)

  7. Thanks for keeping me in the loop C.B.S. radio in Seattle with Kzok102.5fm classic rock and roll .” Sonny the Seahawk”

  9. Go Salvation Army! American Red Cross CEO salary in 2011 was $951,957 plus expenses. Salary for Salvation Army CEO $13,000 plus housing. Wonder which one uses more of it’s donations to help those in need? HHHmmmmmmm.

  10. Exploitation of women’s bodies for advertisement of products/services without having anything to do with the product or service. A women is not to dress in this manner as it may and will tempt man “or partner” which is another thing that is an abomination to God. Your men’s conduct of code is put out the window and being sacrificed for the benefit of dirty money and advertising.

I was searching for ways to get involved evangelically, but I will not do so in light (or should I way in the dark) of poor doctrine and hypocritical practices that are geared to the feel good Church, if any church, which is breaking down the morals established by God himself.

I will respect my female colleagues and partners as equals. I am assuming that the partner is not a business partner as if so it should be understood that respectful and equality would be in fact a wise move if one is to venture into a business partnership. If this is referring to a male to male or female to female relationship it is an abomination and the Salvation Army is not worthy to be using the Church and God’s name to be associated with your efforts in helping people under the banner of evangelism.

Please stop your acts of false teaching and false doctrine!

Your mission statement is hogwash. Unless you are aware of a cult called the “universal Christian church” and of which are actively involved as a member that is.

This is disturbing and the “red kettle” has a new meaning to me. That meaning can be associated with cults and other satanic groups stirring the dirty money collected from unsuspecting and kind hearted people into a cauldron used for satanic rituals and the growth of such organizations under the umbrella of Christianity. Blasphemous.

A concerned citizen wishing to evangelize and built God’s Church.

  11. I vote for the video from big spring! Tyson has a lot of heart!

  12. Great run and the crowd is excited! We all thought he was getting tackled and the game would end, but then he broke free and scored! It was truly exciting!

  13. It was so exciting! After 4 other touchdowns to get us back in the game, Darryn scored his fifth and final one starting on his own 5-10 yard line with 20+ seconds as the scoreboard shows, and scores as the clock winds down to 0 for the game tying touchdown! It was really exciting!

  14. Dear DS in Reidville, SC.

I see what you mean after viewing the conduct of code for men and the mission statement of the Salvation Army. The referral of partner is definately same sex in the one aspect and the other likely to be on a business associate level.

It is a shame that many good things are being done by those who aren’t Biblically correct and are using God’s name to attract funds from kind hearted people but are promoting same sex relationships.

In the end times they will be lovers of self.

We need a revival and biblical outreach programs to save the lost souls.

Beware of the false prophets. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

The Salvation Army should seek Spiritual Salvation.

  15. Read the Salvation Army’s Mission Statement and the conduct of code for men to see that they are not Christians but of the new age feel good group who fashion their ways by false doctrine.

They are lovers of self. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

  16. Whom. Jot Taylor or someone else Cause Kenny is the shizbomb when it comes to football & all he is and has done to help. DUGH!!!!!

  17. I was under the impression that salvation army was see a need fill a need? But my grandson was denied assistance on his 1st Christmas through toys for tots in which the Salvation Army handles in Wisconsin. His mother had no way to make it to the office on the day of registration so they told her she was denied assistance in getting toys for her baby. Shame on you !!!!

  18. I will try my best to see one of the best Country Song Well-Talented Mr. Kenny Chesney. Thank you Kenny for coming out to help out those in need. God Bless You and Your Family.

  19. Just my opinion; I didn’t think the halftime opening song “Feel like a Rock Star” rang true while watching Kenny Chesney flanked by young kids. Lyrically it doesn’t seem appropriate for young kids. He has plenty of great songs that would have appealed to the Salvation Army’s campaign rather than singing about smoking, drinking and just plain bad behavior

  20. Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first
comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying
your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any suggestions for inexperienced blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
