FedEx Lends Support to Northeast Disaster Relief

FedEx Corp. announced yesterday that the company is donating $100,000 cash and $100,000 in-kind transportation services to The Salvation Army for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The donations are part of a generous $1.2 million commitment in support of several humanitarian organizations providing disaster relief, such as The American Red Cross, Heart to Heart International, and Direct Relief International.

The company has a long history of supporting disaster survivors worldwide, and often supports disaster relief through the services of The Salvation Army. Back in 2011, the company donated $100,000 to The Salvation Army’s services in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami. And in May, the company donated a Disaster Response Unit (DRU) to The Salvation Army in San Francisco.

FedEx’s generous financial contribution will allow The Salvation Army to continue meeting the unique needs of those impacted by this storm along the East Coast – such as food, shelter, clothing, toiletries, and other financial assistance – while the in-kind donation of transportation will allow The Salvation Army  to make otherwise expensive shipments of donated items to those in the most need.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to FedEx Corps once again, for their incredible support of our emergency disaster services.
