Owl City’s Adam Young Encourages Volunteering With Salvation Army
Owl City’s Adam Young has a message for his hometown of Owatonna, MN: Volunteer!
The singer-songwriter knows personally just how critical volunteers are to the services of charity organizations like The Salvation Army. After all, he and fellow band members – Breanne Duren, Daniel Jorgensen, Jasper Nephew and Steve Goold – volunteered with us throughout September and October in cities along the way of their Rock the Red Kettle concert tour.
The group contributed in a variety of ways at Salvation Army locations in Dallas, San Diego, Seattle, Minneapolis and Detroit, from serving food and washing dishes to hauling boxes and sorting donations for distribution at our Family Stores. The band is giving back through volunteerism and hopes their fans will do the same. And we at The Salvation Army are incredibly grateful for the group’s amazing work!
Adam is now calling for volunteers to join The Salvation Army’s 122nd Red Kettle Campaign this Christmas, and he wants his hometown to know that The Salvation Army of Owatonna is looking for 800 bell ringers to collect donations for community members in need throughout the Red Kettle Campaign (November 23 – December 24). If you live in Owatonna and are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please call 507-272-9295.
The lifeblood of The Salvation Army is its “army” of volunteers – 3.5 million individuals strong each year – which enable the services and ministry of The Salvation Army throughout the United States. Coincidentally, this is the same number of people who will be served by The Salvation Army this holiday season with food, shelter, gifts, and other financial assistance.
