Vote Today…and until November 18 with Walmart’s “12 Days of Giving” Campaign!

Voters are complaining this morning about long lines at the polls, with some communities enduring a two hour wait in the cold to vote for their presidential candidate of choice.

But voting for your favorite nonprofit for Walmart’s “12 Days of Giving” campaign takes only five minutes of your time at home, and could make a lasting impact.

In its second year, the program calls on Facebook users to nominate nonprofits that are making an impact in their local communities and need support. Each of the “12 Days” will focus on a different theme, including hunger, military assistance and disaster relief. Winning nonprofits will receive a portion of a $1.5 million grant from Walmart, and will be named daily on Facebook and Twitter from Dec. 10 to Dec. 21.

From now until November 18th, you can cast your vote on the Live Better tab on Walmart’s Facebook page to nominate a nonprofit of choice. Here are the details:

  • Visitors nominate local organizations by submitting a 200-word description, including the nonprofit’s impact in its local community.
  • Participants also can submit photos illustrating how the nonprofit helps families make ends meet; a gallery on the page will highlight submissions throughout the campaign.
  • A panel from Walmart will review submissions and select the winners.
  • Grant recipients will be announced daily on Facebook and Twitter from Dec. 10 to Dec. 21.

As a part of their efforts to help people “live better around the globe,” the Walmart Foundation has consistently supported The Salvation Army with Christmas programs, disaster relief, and hunger relief initiatives. Vote for your nonprofit of choice by clicking here.
