Nor’easter Strikes NY and NJ, Salvation Army Relief Efforts Continue
Yesterday’s nor’easter storm brought gusting winds, rain, snow, and power outages once again to hundreds of thousands of residents in New York and New Jersey, just as they were drying off from Superstorm Sandy.
The Salvation Army continues to provide relief for those suffering in the aftermath of these storms, with food, drinks, material assistance such as clothing and blankets, and emotional and spiritual care. Our Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) teams are scattered throughout the impacted areas, aiding these communities with both short-term and long-term recovery services.
If you would like to support those affected by these storms through the services of The Salvation Army, here’s how:
- Online: Visit www.salvationarmyusa.org
- By Phone: 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769).
- Text-to-Give: Text the word STORM to 80888, and confirming the donation with the word, “Yes.”*
- By Mail: Checks may be designated and made out to:
The Salvation Army Disaster Services Center
PO BOX 1959
Atlanta, GA 30301.
In times of disaster, our stores fill these needs from existing, pre-sorted stock. By continuing to donate gently-used household goods to your local Salvation Army store, you not only help your community, you help us prepare for future disaster relief needs. To find your nearest drop-off location, please go to www.satruck.org.
Our prayers are with the impacted communities and those who are serving at this time.
