jcpenney Teams Up With Salvation Army For #GivingTuesday

Between the in-store shopping deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday’s online sales, you might be well-stocked with gifts for your families and friends this holiday season, and, maybe a few for yourself too!

But today is Giving Tuesday (or #GivingTuesday if you’re on Twitter), the official opening day of the giving season. Today, charities, families, businesses and individuals from coast to coast are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

It’s a celebration of sharing the love in whatever way you choose – giving back to a local charity or nonprofit organization through donating or volunteering, spending time with a loved one, or simply telling the world how you like to give.

If you’re stuck as to how you can celebrate today, we hope you’ll visit our friends at jcpenney. The retailer is celebrating Giving Tuesday by donating a dollar to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign – up to $100,000 – for every jcpenney holiday button redeemed at www.jcp.com/christmas today only. The event is part of the jcp Holiday Giving Tour, a 12-day nationwide event where the retailer will carry out special acts of generosity in a new city each day. Click here to redeem The Salvation Army’s holiday button from jcpenney!

And if you’re participating in Giving Tuesday, let us know by using the hashtag #GivingTuesday and tagging The Salvation Army: @SalvationArmyUS.

Happy Giving!
