The Salvation Army Continues Support in Boston

The Salvation Army continues to assist those affected in Boston, Massachusetts. A canteen (mobile feeding truck) is stationed at the City Year Headquarters located at 287 Columbus Avenue in the Back Bay.

In addition, Salvation Army officers trained in crisis counseling are supporting the ongoing grief counseling efforts.

Yesterday, approximately 550 runners arrived at the Family Assistance Center to receive their belongings checked with race officials prior to the marathon.  Those who had not finished received medals at a makeshift finish line set up by Boston Athletic Association staff and volunteers.

Today, The Family Assistance Center has shifted to the City Year Headquarters where the canteen is located. Family members of runners trying to get into or out of Boston will continue to be referred to this location for assistance with travel arrangements, etc.

“We will continue to serve until we are no longer needed. We are grateful for the outpouring of support. In the worst of times, we are seeing Boston at its best. ” said Drew Forster, Kroc Center Program and Development Manager at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corp Community Center in Boston.
