How Your Donated Miles Can Make a Difference

The Salvation Army is well-known for the famous kettle bells during the Christmas season. Many are familiar with the fabulous deals and easy ability to donate to our Family Stores. But what you might not be aware of is that we also accept donations of frequent flyer miles through the United Charity Miles.

If you’re short on time or money but want to make a contribution this year (or anytime), consider making a donation with the resources you’ve racked up in your day-to-day travels with United. With miles sitting idle, or set to expire, donating miles is the perfect way to get creative and make a difference.

The Salvation Army is a global organization serving in 126 countries around the world. Those miles help us meet the needs anywhere from African villages to major metropolitan areas around the world.

Here are a few examples of how your donated miles help us Do The Most Good:

Emergency Disaster Services

During times of disaster, these miles mobilize Salvation Army personnel and volunteers to further our mission to meet human needs in affected areas. Your miles help enable us to provide physical, spiritual, and emotional relief to victims of disaster as well as prepare The Salvation Army for future disasters.

Missing Persons

The Salvation Army Missing Persons program is a unique international social service that helps facilitate reunions between family members who have lost contact with each other. The Missing Persons office receives an average of 2,000 inquiries, opens approximately 600 new cases and locates an average of 350 people annually.

Human Trafficking

The Salvation Army has been providing services to victims of human trafficking since 1884. With the assistance of donated miles, The Army is able to help re-locate women involved in trafficking or in other abusive situations to a safer location.

Your mileage donations make a huge impact. Check out this incredible story about how, through donated miles, The Salvation Army reunited a soldier with her family for Christmas before being deployed.
