Salvation Army Feeding Evacuees and First Responders in Colorado
The Salvation Army continues to serve evacuees and first responders impacted by flash flooding in Colorado. More than 10,000 meals have been served in the last three days by volunteers and Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) personnel.
The flooding, which began Wednesday, has impacted parts of 15 counties and damaged or destroyed nearly 19,000 homes, according to emergency management officials.
As of Sunday night, 11,700 people have been evacuated, 1,253 remain unaccounted for, and five people confirmed dead since the floods began. Rescue efforts were hindered Sunday as waves of unrelenting rain swamped already overflowed rivers and streams.
At this point, The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services crews are providing feeding services at the following locations:
The Salvation Army is serving at the Boulder County Incident Command Post at Linden Avenue and Broadway. Additionally, personnel continue to provide support to evacuees at the Mapleton YMCA (2850 Mapleton Ave Boulder, CO 80301)
The Salvation Army continues to serve meals at Timberline Church (2908 S Timberline Rd Fort Collins, CO 80525). The shelter will remain available long-term over the next 30-90 days.
The Salvation Army continues to provide support the Jefferson County Incident Command Post: Jefferson County Fair Grounds located at 15200 W 6th Ave. Service Rd., Golden, CO 80401.
