Honoring All Who Served
Today, we observe Veteran’s Day to honor all veterans of our armed forces. We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices you’ve all made to keep our country free.
Our heroes deserve not only our gratitude but our endless support. Many of our military men and women return home to face a variety of hardships including issues with poverty and mental illnesses.
Veterans make up 13 percent of the adult homeless population. According to The Nebraska Department of Veteran Affairs, about 30 percent of the men and women who have spent time in war zones experience PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
The Salvation Army is meeting the needs of our beloved veterans by providing them with various supportive services such as physical and spiritual healing, rent and utility assistance, substance abuse, housing, rehabilitation and job services and more.
Every year, we serve hundreds of thousands of veterans in need. Services rendered to the veterans across the country are as unique as the communities they’re found in. If you are a veteran in need, we encourage you to reach out to your local Salvation Army Corps.
