The poverty rate in the United States is staggering: In 2012, according to The National Center for Law and Economic Justice, 46.5 million Americans were living below the poverty line of $23, 492/ year for a family of four.

That means one out of seven people are living in poverty.

The Salvation Army recognizes the severity of this issue and is taking drastic steps to combat poverty in 2014 along with organizations such as Feeding America, United Way, Catholic Charities USA, and others. Read here for more information.
