Walmart’s “Fill the Truck” Toy Drives to Support The Salvation Army

Boy at Christmas

Starting this Friday, November 27, Walmart stores across the country will kick off the fourth annual Fill the Truck Toy Drive, which will collect hundreds of thousands of toys for children in need in partnership with The Salvation Army as a part of the 125th annual Red Kettle Campaign.

Shoppers visiting participating Walmart stores on select weekends from November 27 through December 13, will have the opportunity to drop off new, unwrapped toys and coats for children who take part in The Salvation Army programs year-round as part of the company’s fourth annual “Fill the Truck” Toy Drive.

Lists of suggested gifts to for local children will be provided to shoppers at participating Walmart locations. Once the truck or bin is full of donations, The Salvation Army will distribute the gifts to families in need.

With the help of generous shoppers, this campaign has raised over 275,500 toys and 17,200 coats since it began.

A major focus of this year’s national Red Kettle Campaign is to encourage Americans to share their reasons for giving using #RedKettleReason in social posts. Everyone who donates to the “Fill the Truck” drive or one of the Red Kettles is encouraged to share his or her own #RedKettleReason. Those who share their #RedKettleReasons online through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube can see their posts on RedKettleReason.org.

For more than 40 years, Walmart has been an essential partner of The Salvation Army. This Thanksgiving and beyond, The Salvation Army give thanks for Walmart, our valued partner in Doing the Most Good.
