Eight Youth Win Big by Blogging About Their Future Goals

Digital Learning Programs with The Salvation Army, Target, and EverFi

Learning something new really paid off for the eight winners selected from The Salvation Army Digital Learning Program presented by Target’s youth blog contest! Over the course of the spring, youth at participating Centers across the country submitted entries focused on how they plan to use lessons from the Digital Learning Program to build a strong foundation for their future.

The Digital Learning Program is a national, digital, after-school, initiative aimed at empowering our youth and communities with meaningful and critical life skills. The blog contest received more than 35 submissions overall, with winners hailing from Centers in Texas, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. “I learned from the [Computer Literacy] class how to use an electronic device properly [including] which website to trust when buying something on the Internet, and to be careful what you post on social media,” said one winner from Idaho.

Other winners wrote about the correlation between healthy choices and future success, based on their learnings from the Health and Fitness Digital Learning course. “In order to ensure a stronger me, it is important to remain healthy and proactive in life, therefore facilitating a stronger and brighter future,” explained one winner from Texas. “Everyone is meant to do something extraordinary in life and in order to accomplish the task, your body, mind, and soul must mirror a pattern of healthiness.”

The Salvation Army’s Digital Learning Program presented by Target is implemented in after-school programs and has reached nearly 6,000 youth in neighborhoods across the country. Target has been an essential partner of The Salvation Army, helping to engage and educate communities in a new and innovative way. We thank them for their incredible support and join them in congratulating the eight blog contest winners for their inspiring entries!
