As we recognize National Volunteer Week and celebrate the important work that our volunteers contribute each and every day, The Salvation Army is asking, “How do you do the most good?”
We’d like to hear from our supporters, including volunteers, employees, and fans and followers on social media, how you volunteer and help your communities.
Today is Salvation Army founder General William Booth’s birthday! He was born on April 10, 1829 in Sneinton, Nottingham, England.
Booth found his passion for teaching the gospel in 1851 when he joined the Methodist Reform Church of London as Pastor. 14 years later, he would find himself preaching to crowds on the street of London’s East End; home to the city’s most poor and destitute.
April is National Alcohol Awareness Month – an opportunity to raise awareness of alcohol abuse, prevent underage drinking, and encourage all people to make healthy, safe choices. As such, The Salvation Army is praying for the full recovery of those who suffer from personal or familial alcohol abuse: please join us!
Easter is a blessed reminder from God that our hope and assurance rest in the promise of our salvation through His son’s sacrifice on the cross. Just as spring season undoubtedly displays new life each year, so we are renewed in our redemption and new life in Christ’s name each day.
In light of Good Friday tomorrow, we are pleased to share a message from Salvation Army International Leader, General Linda Bond. Happy Easter to you!
