National Hurricane Preparedness Week

Tropical Storm Beryl may have ruined a few holiday cookouts and beach trips this last weekend around Jacksonville, Florida, but thankfully, the damage was minimal. The hurricane season in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico officially begins this Friday, June 1 and runs through November 30. Although tropical storms like Beryl and Alberto have arrived earlier than usual, the 2012 season is projected to be less active than in recent years due to an El Nino effect.
