The wait is over! Our National Advisory Board Chair Charlotte Jones Anderson made the announcement on ESPN’s Monday Night Football this evening…
Three-time Grammy Award winner Keith Urban has been named the featured performer for this year’s Salvation Army’s Kettle Kickoff! That means you get to watch him rock out during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game halftime show on November 25 aired on FOX. (Read our official press release here)
But instead of watching from your couch, how would you like to catch all the action live at Cowboys Stadium?
As a part of the Kettle Kickoff promotion, fans will have an opportunity to win an expense-paid trip to the game to see Keith’s performance and watch Dallas take on last year’s Super Bowl champs, the New Orleans Saints. Just signup to be an Online Red Kettle virtual bell ringer at www.onlineredkettle.org, and the fans who collect the most donations for people in need have a chance to win! Tomorrow’s final draft picks will once again showcase an array of team colors, jerseys, famous names, and numbers. And standing among the action will be one unassuming man in his own team’s “jersey” – a navy blue, Salvation Army suit!
But not to worry, you won’t see Salvation Army officers battling it out at professional football games this fall (unless we’re ringing the bells outside the stadium for kettle donations!).

We sometimes wonder if Salvation Army National Advisory Board (NAB) Chairperson Charlotte Jones Anderson ever has a moment to relax!
Just two weeks after January’s NAB meeting wrapped up in San Diego, Charlotte was back in her hometown of Dallas yesterday serving lunch to 275 men and women at The Salvation Army’s Carr P. Collins Social Service Center.

So what’s this “kettle kickoff” about? Each year, The Salvation Army “kicks off” their Christmas Red Kettle season with a halftime show at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. The event is intended to promote our annual Christmas collections for the poor. Last year alone, our volunteer bell ringers raised $142 million outside of grocery stores nationwide. All of our collections go directly toward helping families and individuals in need: feeding hungry families, providing Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children and senior citizens, and giving individuals a warm bed at night. As the Executive Vice President Brand Management/ President of Charities for the Dallas Cowboys, Charlotte’s been actively involved with The Salvation Army. For 13 years she’s organized our Red Kettle Kickoff half-time show at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. Her parents Jerry and Gene Jones, owners of the Cowboys, were on hand to celebrate with her.

Outgoing NAB Chairperson Rob Pace lauded Charlotte and the Jones family for all their contributions to the work of The Salvation Army. To his surprise, they presented him with a Dallas Cowboys jersey, complete with his own name on the back! Mr. Pace was grinning from ear to ear thanks to the thoughtful gift.
The Salvation Army is grateful to Rob Pace for his years of dedicated leadership, and we’re thrilled to now have installed our next incredible leader Charlotte Jones Anderson
