Congratulations to Jim Cummings, the big winner of our Online Red Kettle contest!
Jim has won an expenses-paid trip to Dallas where he’ll be in the middle of all the Thanksgiving Day action straight from the seats of Cowboys Stadiums. That includes a rocking performance by Keith Urban during our Red Kettle Kickoff halftime show and a must-see match-up between the Dallas Cowboys and defending Super Bowl champs, the New Orleans Saints.
Of all individual online red kettles, Jim’s raised the most money, receiving donations all the way from Hong Kong, UK and Germany. Thanks Jim, for your work in helping raise funds to support Salvation Army services for those in need!
The contest may be over, but we still need virtual bell ringers! You can start your own online red kettle by registering at www.onlineredkettle.org.

The wait is over! Our National Advisory Board Chair Charlotte Jones Anderson made the announcement on ESPN’s Monday Night Football this evening…
Three-time Grammy Award winner Keith Urban has been named the featured performer for this year’s Salvation Army’s Kettle Kickoff! That means you get to watch him rock out during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game halftime show on November 25 aired on FOX. (Read our official press release here)
But instead of watching from your couch, how would you like to catch all the action live at Cowboys Stadium?
As a part of the Kettle Kickoff promotion, fans will have an opportunity to win an expense-paid trip to the game to see Keith’s performance and watch Dallas take on last year’s Super Bowl champs, the New Orleans Saints. Just signup to be an Online Red Kettle virtual bell ringer at www.onlineredkettle.org, and the fans who collect the most donations for people in need have a chance to win! Ever dream of starring in an NFL halftime show? How about seeing the Dallas Cowboys play the Washington Redskins in person at The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff…
Sunday, April 29, 2012
As we mentioned in Friday’s blog post, The Salvation Army was chosen to announce the Dallas Cowboys’ fourth round draft picks yesterday at Radio City Music Hall in New York City for the upcoming NFL season!
Representing The Salvation Army, Major George Hood, Chief Communications Officer, announced the Dallas Cowboys’ fourth round picks: Kyle Wilber, a defensive end from Wake Forest and Matt Johnson, a safety from Eastern Washington.

Tomorrow’s final draft picks will once again showcase an array of team colors, jerseys, famous names, and numbers. And standing among the action will be one unassuming man in his own team’s “jersey” – a navy blue, Salvation Army suit!
But not to worry, you won’t see Salvation Army officers battling it out at professional football games this fall (unless we’re ringing the bells outside the stadium for kettle donations!).

We sometimes wonder if Salvation Army National Advisory Board (NAB) Chairperson Charlotte Jones Anderson ever has a moment to relax!
Just two weeks after January’s NAB meeting wrapped up in San Diego, Charlotte was back in her hometown of Dallas yesterday serving lunch to 275 men and women at The Salvation Army’s Carr P. Collins Social Service Center.

Thanks to your support and generosity, The Salvation Army raised a record $147.6 million during the 2011 Christmas Red Kettle Campaign, setting a fundraising record for the seventh straight year! This is a $5.6 million increase from last year!

The Salvation Army would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Dallas Cowboys and the Jones Family for once again inviting us to launch our Red Kettle Campaign at their Thanksgiving Day game and halftime show!

Tune in for the 15th Annual Salvation Army Kettle Kickoff during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys football game Thanksgiving Day!

It’s not even Thanksgiving yet and Jeff “Jingle-Jangle” Olsen, of St. Paul, Minnesota is hardcore rockin’ his red kettle for The Salvation Army. The local broadcaster of KOOL 108 FM and Salvation Army volunteer is currently in first place at www.onlineredkettle.org, with a whopping $24,786.84 raised in donations so far!
Nearly a third of this amount was given by an anonymous donor who attended the Twin Cities Kettle Kickoff Event and handed Jeff a check for $8,000.
Check out Jeff Olsen’s KOOL Kettle online.
If that’s not enough, Jeff set a new world record for nonstop bell ringing for 30 hours straight outside of a local grocery store! Bear in mind, we’re talking about Minnesota in November here, folks.
“[It] is the least I can do for an organization that spends 365 days and nights insuring that the most vulnerable people in my community find comfort in a time of need. It is my hope that anyone who feels as blessed as me will use my record-breaking stunt as inspiration to volunteer or make a donation to The Salvation Army this holiday season. The need has never been greater.”, Olsen said on www.Kool108.com.
We’re absolutely amazed at the love and dedication of our supporters across the country. The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign funds the many amazing programs that help millions in need throughout the year: feeding the hungry, providing Christmas joy for disadvantaged children, and blessing families in need.
Do you think you can beat Jeff’s online red kettle? Virtual bell ringer Nick Pepperworth is currently in second place at $17,725. Check out the top ten kettles and start your own by visiting www.OnlineRedKettle.org!
