“Jesus and religion are on opposite spectrums. See, one’s the work of God, but one’s a man-made invention. See, one is the cure, but the other’s the infection.”
Do you agree with these words from Christian rap artist Jefferson Bethke? His famous rap video titled “Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus” has garnered almost 20 million views on Youtube, contributing to the rising trend of “YouTube Christianity”.

Nominated by his boss, Lynn Kallgren, as a Salvation Army employee deserving recognition for his character and achievements, Keith Butler has worked tirelessly as a Data Entry Specialist for The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters in San Diego for 17 years, all the while volunteering his time when the hours allow for it.
“He’ll actually work after church on Sunday all day so that he can take Friday off to ring bells at our red kettles,” Lynn said.

Do you enjoy running for approximately 35 minutes? Do you like to support a good cause while you’re at it?

We sometimes wonder if Salvation Army National Advisory Board (NAB) Chairperson Charlotte Jones Anderson ever has a moment to relax!

Back in December, employees of The Salvation Army of Kansas City, KS were elated to find a .82 carat European-cut diamond wrapped in an unmarked piece of paper that had been dropped in a Salvation Army red kettle outside of a Walmart store in Shawnee, KS.
Meierotto’s Jewelers, a local supporter of The Salvation Army, donated not only a free appraisal of the ring, but also an additional 18 karat white gold ring. Combined, the beautiful ring is 1.32 carats total diamond weight and valued at around $3,000.

It’s unlikely that you’ve ever heard of the Solid Rock Club of Alexandria, VA. The intimate club of 25 men in recovery at The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is no secret, but the humble work they’ve accomplished over the years serving others seems to be in hiding!
I discovered the group’s existence after stumbling upon an article featuring their good work on The Salvation Army’s Southern Spirit Online site (thanks Southern Territory!).

We were inspired by a great idea from Jenni Ragland, Associate Director of the Community Relations Department at The Salvation Army Alaska Divisional Headquarters. She created a 12 Months of Giving calendar which listed a new way to give back to Alaska communities each month of the year.
We liked her idea so much, we decided to create a 12 Months of Giving calendar that can be used by anyone.

You donated online and in our kettles, adopted angels, volunteered your time, and you encouraged us through prayer.
Our work is simply not possible without the faithful hands and generous donations of so many supporters!
